Gargi College, University of Delhi, Delhi is a constituent unit of Delhi University was established on 1st July 1967 and is a leading south campus college of the University of Delhi.

Gargi College was named after an enlightened woman named Gargi, figuring in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad of the Vedic Age.

The college is affiliated with University of Delhi, New Delhi and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi on 21st December 1999 to offer 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.30 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 15th November 2015.

The aim of the college is to every student who passes through the portals of the college emerges as a wholly developed individual symbolizing the spirit of enterprise and inquiry that characterizes Gargi.

It is a women's govt. college providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Delhi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under the University of Delhi, New Delhi.

In 2009 the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India awarded the institution the Star College Grant and a grant for establishing a bioinformatics facility at Gargi.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate and two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce stream with various specializations under the University of Delhi, New Delhi. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the University of Delhi, New Delhi, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

The admission criteria for the college is the centralized online process done by the University of Delhi submit the online applications, attend the interview/counseling as per the schedules intimated through call letters send via email and Shortlisted applicants after the interview can proceed with the remaining admission formalities.
