FLAME School of Liberal Education was established in 2004. Its affiliated to FLAME University.

FLAME University has been established as a state private university vide the FLAME University Act 2014 (Maharashtra Act No. II of 2015) of the Government of Maharashtra. Degrees offered by FLAME University are as per UGC norms. It is Jain Minority Institution. FLAME has been set up with an idealistic vision and a social commitment to contribute to society in a noble manner. 

FLAME has been created as an academic institution anchored in Liberal Education. It is the pioneer of Liberal Education in India. The objective of Liberal Education at FLAME is to go beyond the known and familiar structured and narrowly encapsulated forms of knowledge. The aim is to provide students a learning experience that would excite and enthuse them. The education at FLAME University rests in multiplicity and simultaneity, as well as in making active choices from all that is made available. The focus is on experiencing, learning, self-reflection and self-discovery by freeing themselves from the traditional ways of looking at things and instead to constantly question and challenge themselves, society and the world at large. The purpose is to give the country and the young generation an academic institution that fires the imagination of students to discover the magic and passion in themselves, to foster their creativity, to propel their innovativeness and determination to create, build and shape new enterprises.

Spread on 60 acres of green expanse, FLAME prepares students who have a strong desire to learn and grow continually, welcome new ideas, value diversity with desire to succeed and give their best towards excellence in all spheres of life. Its curriculum includes perspective building, skills and competencies for communication, problem-solving skills, creativity, innovation, teamwork and ethics that also meet the needs of the diverse sectors of the country. It consists of four schools: FLAME School of Liberal Education, FLAME School of Business, FLAME School of Communication and FLAME School of Fine & Performing Arts.

Dr. B.V. Doshi, the famous Indian Architect from Ahmedabad and Prof. Indira J. Parikh, Founder President, FLAME and former Dean, IIM, Ahmedabad then joined the effort to create FLAME, anchored in Liberal Education.

FLAME is an institution at learning that aims to deliver experiential learning to foster in students; the professionalism, collaboration, appreciation of leadership, ability to work hard, take rational decisions, and develop high thinking and sensitization to social needs.

The concept of an undergraduate School of Liberal Education offering undergraduate programs in a host of subjects from the creative arts, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences and applied areas; a School of Business offering courses in management, a School of Communication offering courses in Mass Media, a School of Performing Arts and a Center for Organizational Growth and Excellence offering courses in management development programs for the Industry emerged after discussions on the launch in the current education system with intellectuals, students and heads of educational institutions.  

The FLAME School of Liberal Education encourages students, to build their own course of study by choosing courses that appeal them.

The school helps students to understand which career path best meets their goals and objectives.

At the end of four years, students are awarded an undergraduate degree and a diploma in Liberal Education on successfully completing the program's requirements.
