Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta,Assam was established in 1960.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital is the newest addition to the emerging medical education scenario in Assam. The first medical school of Assam was established 100 years back in Dibrugarh as Berry White Medical School.
The same school was upgraded to Assam Medical College in 1948 on 3rd of November. Gauhti Medical College in Guwahati and Silchar Medical College in Silchar were established in 1960 and 1968 respectively.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College in Barpeta is the fifth medical college in Assam. Situated in the culturally rich town of Barpeta, the hospital associated with the college has already been inaugurated on 11-th February, 2011.
The works for Medical College is undergoing on full-swing, and the first MCI (Medical Council of India) inspection is being awaited.
It is hoped that the FAAMC (Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College) will cater to the needs of people of Lower Assam and also would be able to bring new glory to the medical education in Assam.
