Established in 1951, Faculty of Fine Arts - Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi is a constituent department of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi and managed by the University Committee.

The department is Art Institute by Abul Kalam who laid its foundation at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. It is one of the leading institutions in Fine Arts.

The department run courses under the Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Act, 1956.

The department aims to prepare the students for creative and applied responsibilities in the world of art and design.

It is a co-educational State Govt. Institute, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Delhi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The Arts department became the Department of Art and Craft Education and a part of the Teacher's Training College in 1967.

Subsequently, in 1980-81, it was granted the status of Department of Fine Arts and Art Education and professional courses (BFA) in Painting, Applied Art, and Sculpture was started.

Later, B.A (Hons.) course in Art and Art Education was modified to B.F.A in Art Education to provide a comprehensive degree program for art teachers.

The department has received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi.

Also, Faculty of Fine Arts is widely recognized as a national leader in Fine Arts study and research.

At present, the department offers 4 years of the program in Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and 2 years of Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Courses.

On December 3, 2007, it was declared as Faculty of Fine Arts and comprises following departments. They are:

Department of Graphic Art

The department has its own selection process, unlike the other colleges under Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.

Admissions here done are based on the merit obtained by the aspirants with the minimum aggregate of 50% in their previous courses in the relevant field.

Such candidates should examine whether their percentage marks (Best of Four/PCB/PCM, whichever is applicable) falls within the cut- off percentage declared by the college for admission in different courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

The department has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
The department has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The department also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The department consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
