Faculty of Education - Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, was started in 2015 under a new regulation dated December 1, 2014. It is a constituent unit of the affiliating university. The first academic session was started from 2015-2016.

Currently, the courses are offered at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute in Chennai. The department is approved and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru.

The college aims at providing good quality education to the future teachers of our country. The college tries its best to train the future teachers of our country in such a way that they end up not only having satisfying careers but also find satisfaction in propagating education through various ranks of the society.

Faculty of Education - Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute offers a two-year course in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Admission here to the B.Ed. course is strictly provided according to the rules and regulations laid down by The National Council for Teacher Education.

Anyone who has scored 50% marks in their graduation from a reputed university is eligible to apply for the B.Ed. course. SC, ST and OBC candidates are given a relaxation of 5% marks where eligibility for admission is concerned.

The sole aim of the B.Ed. course is to provide the students with top class capabilities and skills in the field of teaching, in both practical and theoretical methodologies. A number of learning and teaching techniques are used by the faculty to provide skills and knowledge to the students.

Students are trained in various subjects related to teaching. Practical training is provided to the students in various schools. This is done via experienced faculty members who provide expert guidance.

State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
