Faculty of Education - Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, started its academic courses in the field of Education from the year 1918.
It is one of the constituent departments of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, which was established in 1916. The department was started as Teacher's Training College and later shifted to Kamachha Complex as a faculty of Banaras Hindu University.
The department offer courses under the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. It is recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur & Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. It is the first faculty to have undergone the process of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The main aim of the department to provide the satisfactory quality education to the future teachers. The department empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.
It is a co-educational private department, providing regular courses in which is located in the rural part of Varanasi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. The department also received the many achievements awards in the field of education as well as curricular activities.
At present, the college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from the recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation of 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college also offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

The department started the collaborative programme of M.P. Bhoj Open University, Bhopal and Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi.
The admission to B.Ed. the programme is made on the basis of marks of the applicants obtained in the qualifying examination, and other rules of admission prescribed by university and government.
The department started the distance education program under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
The department has its own selection process, unlike other colleges under this university. Sometimes, the department has an online application process where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.
