English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Shillong Campus was established in 1973 as the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) north-east campus. The aim of establishing this campus was to cater to the linguistic and research needs of the region as well as to provide quality training for teachers. n. The English and Foreign Languages University, as it is now known after its conferment of central university status in 2007 by an act of parliament, upholds that vision and this campus too has expanded its avenues to add to and upgrade its existing courses.
