Dronacharya Government College, Gurgaon was established in May 1951. Dronacharya Government College aspires to cope up with the changing academic scenario in the backdrop of the overall development of the country.

The college is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.61 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 1st May 2015.

The origin of Dronacharya Government College can be traced back to Hindu College Gujranwala (Pakistan). After the partition in the year 1947, Dronacharya Government College was re-established at their present location at Gurgaon in May 1951 and was rechristened as Dronacharya Sanatan Dharma College.

Standing at the historical site of Gurgaon a city associated with the legendary figure Guru Dronacharya; who gave the world the best archer, Arjuna, and some supreme religious Master Yudishistra, this college has been consistently providing knowledge for the last three decades by the name of ‘Dronacharya Sanatan Dharma College‘. It was taken over by the Haryana Govt. on January 14, 1980, and came to be known as ‘Dronacharya Govt.College’.

This historical institution has had the singular distinction of having invited and honored the renowned national and international luminaries like Bharat
Ratan Awardee, Dr. RajenderPrasad, a peace loving, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Lady Mountbatten, Field Marshall, K.M.Kariappa, and Smt. Vijay Lakshmi Pandit (at one time or the other).

The college offers three years undergraduate & two years undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce & Science stream under Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. It also offers some Management, Diploma & Add-on courses.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi for UG, PG, self-financing  & Certificate courses.

The main objective of the college is to instill the intellectual and moral values in our students for their overall personality development so that they can become a self-rejuvenating dynamic force to take the society and the nation forward as awakened and responsible citizens.
