The college is affiliated by the Thiruvalluvar University.

The college is managed by Dr. R. K. Shanmugam Educational Truest, which was promoted in the memory of the late Dr. R. K. Shanmugam.

The Truest has promoted a college under the name of Dr.R.K.Shanmugam College of Arts and Science to provide higher education for the deserving students, especially belonging to the rural and tribal area.

The college aims at training young men and women of quality, to be leaders in all walks of life, who we hope will play a vital role in bringing about desirable changes for the betterment of the people of our country.

The vision of the college is to engrave character and value based education in the minds of students to manifest the perfection already in them.
