Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (DPDKV), Akola was established in 1969.

Its affiliated to the Nagpur University.

According to the University Act 1983 (of the Government of Maharashtra), the University is entrusted with the responsibility of agricultural education, research and extension education alongwith breeder and foundation seed programme.

The University has its main campus at Akola.
