Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra was established in 1976 under Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra which was established in 1957.

It is a pioneer Institute of Haryana imparting quality education over the last 35 years. It caters the academic pursuits of thousands of education seekers who are either deprived of education due to some constraint or those who wish to upgrade their qualification and competence.

The college is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Deemed University) and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956.

It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur to offer Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade.

Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra University has one motive-reaching the unreached for building the knowledge society by offering the quality education at learner's doorstep.

All the courses offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra University are recognized by the Distance Education Bureau-University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

The courses are recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central/State Government. Today, the Directorate is providing undergraduate and postgraduate education in 35 courses having an enrollment of 24,000 students.

In addition to conventional Bachelor and Master Degree courses, the Directorate offer professional courses like BCA, PGDCA, M.Sc Computer Science (Software), MCA, MBA, MBA (HM), LLM, PGDJMC, MA in Mass Communication, D.Lib & Inf.Sc., B.Lib. & Inf.Sc., M.Lib. & Inf.Sc., and B.Ed. (2-year).

  • State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
  • A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
  • The institute provides the training facility like- face to face interview, resume making, communication skills, that help the students to face the campus recruitment
  • For every course, the college imparts practical training to its students that helps them to understand better, improve their demonstrative skills, eliminate hesitation and in this process strives to mold them into industry ready professionals
  • The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
  • The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
  • The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
