Department of Hindi-Tripura University was established in 2006.

Its affiliated to Tripura University.

under the 10th plan with the appointment of one Lecturer subsequently the University Grant Commission has sanctioned three teaching position as lecturer, reader and professor each under 11th plan.

Initialily the university authority had decided to start PG diploma in Hindi and accordingly the syllabus of the same was also prepared and approved by the acedemic council.
