Department of Education - University of Mumbai, Mumbai was established in 1974. It is one of the constituent departments under the University of Mumbai.

At present, the department offer courses under the University campus. It is recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur.

The main aim of the department is to provide the quality of higher education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the department empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

At present, the department offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course under Credit Based Choice System (CBCS) for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation of 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The core aim of B.Ed. course is to equip students with excellent skill and capabilities in the art of teaching both in the theoretical and practical methodologies.

The department offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Apart from these courses, the department also offers Master of Philosophy in Education, Doctor of Philosophy in Education, Post Graduate Diploma in Management of Education, & additional add-on Certificate courses.

The admission for these courses is strictly based on the norms stipulated by National Council for Teacher Education & University of Mumbai, Mumbai.
