Dayanand College, Hisar was established on 1st June 1950. It is a public funded college established under the management of D.A.V.College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in June 1951 & 12(B) in June 1964 under Act, 1956. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade in November 2016.

The college owes its existence to the vision and missionary zeal of Lala Gian Chand Mahajan (later venerated as Swami Munishwaranand) who was a teacher by profession, a social crusader by inclination, and a saint by temperament.

Swamiji was helped in his crusade by a galaxy of philanthropists and missionaries. The college is a multi-faculty, co-educational government-aided institution affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Founded in the historical city of Hisar in 1950, the college was taken over by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi in 1962.

The college offers three years undergraduate & postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science streams under Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. It also offers some Add-on courses.

  • The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
  • Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
  • The college has a large playground with will-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
  • A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
  • State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
  • A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
  • The institute provides the training facility like- face to face interview, resume making, communication skills, that help the students to face the campus recruitment
  • For every course, the college imparts practical training to its students that helps them to understand better, improve their demonstrative skills, eliminate hesitation and in this process strives to mold them into industry ready professionals
  • The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
  • The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
  • The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
