Damber Singh College was established in 1994. Its affiliated to Sikkim University.

With due permission from the government of Sikkim vide Notification No.356/Est./Edn, and with the affiliation from north Bengal university, West Bengal. Later with the establishment of Sikkim University in 2007 vide Parliamentary Act the college is automatically affiliated with it from 2008-09 academic sessions.

College is named after a social reformer Late D. S. Chhetri and located in a most ambient location at Gangtok, the capital city of the most green and peaceful State of Sikkim.

The college focus on teaching and learning, outreach and engagement; the college creates, conveys, and applies knowledge to expand personal growth and opportunity, advance social and community development, foster economic competitiveness, and improve the quality of life.

Damber Singh College recognizes its bias toward the beneficial use of knowledge. The college has a tradition of strong undergraduate education with a special emphasis on professional development.

The application of knowledge is manifested in the creation of new knowledge that will benefit society is at the heart of the mission. 

The College offering B.A Pass/Hons. is situated in the picturesque place of mountains at Samdur, Tadong, Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The college is connected by National Highway 31A. The nearest railway Station New Jalpaiguri and nearer Airport, Bagdogra are 117 km and 120 km respectively away from the college.
