D.A.V. College, Bathinda was established in 1969 in the sacred memory of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, along with the Vedic traditions to the youth of contemporary India.

It was a part of the great chain of D.A.V. Institutes managed by DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC) is the largest non-governmental organization in the field of education in India today.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B+" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 16th September 2004.

The aim of the college was to strengthen the Indian Society by organizing an educational system which sought to combine the moral and spiritual values of the ancient Vedic India with the scientific outlook of materialistic West.

It is a co-educational self-financed private college, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of a Bathinda played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college has received numbers of an award in publication, offering scholarship also awarded by the different societies.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Computer Application, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Punjabi University, Patiala.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, streams with various specializations for the students. It offers diploma, self-financed, and certificate courses as well.

The college has been opened the distance education study centre, offers courses for the students under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
