Convergence Institute of Media, Management & Information Technology Studies, Bengaluru Urban was also known as Commits, Bengaluru Urban was established in 2001 under the management of Commits Educational and Charitable Trust, Bengaluru Urban.

It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The institute is affiliated to Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal a government-owned university, recognized by the University Grants Commission of India, the Indian regulator for higher education. The Institute is located in Bangalore, India.

Commits were set up as a postgraduate media and communications Institute in Bengaluru and inaugurated by the Governor of Karnataka, Smt. Rama Devi, in August 2001. Its objective is to enable students to position themselves as multi-skilled and multifaceted media professionals.

In a span of little over a decade Commits has emerged as one of the top five communication colleges at the postgraduate level in India, offering a bouquet of cutting-edge courses across the media spectrum.

Commits do not advertise or promote itself in the media heavily as most other educational institutions do but believe in word-of-mouth publicity and its own students as its brand ambassadors.

Commit is a small institute with a big reputation. The emphasis is on all-round development, where theory and practice are given equal weight; where academics and industry work go hand-in-hand; where teachers are also professionals and professionals are teachers.

Commits’ academic objectives are to enable students to:

Focus on a particular aspect of a broad subject area (Media and Mass Communication) in which they may have prior knowledge or experience through the previous study at the Bachelor's degree level (BA Journalism students continue their Masters in MA Journalism)
Specialize in a particular subject area in greater depth than they encountered during the course of their Bachelor's degree study (students would specifically specialize in Advertising or Television News Production, under the broad umbrella of Mass Communication)
Develop knowledge of new discipline if they have not explored the relevant subject area in their Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Management, and Law students complete their Masters in MA Mass Communication)
Learn how to conduct field research linked to media and mass communication (Research Methodology and Marketing Research are important components of the curriculum)and make it relevant to emerging social trends
