College of Applied Science (CAS), Palakkad was established in 1993. Its affiliated to Kunnur University.

The College of Applied Science Malampuzha was established in August 2008 by the Institue of Human Resource Development (IHRD). IHRD is an autonomous educational institution established by the Government of Kerala in 1987. The College has three departments, and offers Under Graduate programmes in B. Com. with Computer Application, B. Sc. Computer Science and B. Sc. Electronics under the University of Calicut. The College has around 325 students, and 28 staff (including non-teaching staff). The courses are being conducted in the Credit and Semester System with the latest syllabi, which is modified from time to time, by the University of Calicut.

Since its inception, the College has maintained a very good track record in academics, and co-curricular activities such as arts and sports. The first batch of students passed out from the College in 2011. The graduates from this College are placed in different companies.

The present location of the College is at Kallepully, just seven kilometers from Palakkad Junction Railway Station, four kilometers from Palakkad Town Railway Station and four kilometers from KSRTC Bus Station, Palakkad.

The college is managed by I.H.R.D and offering UG programs such as B.Sc. Electronics and Computer Science for the first time in Kerala.

The courses are being run under the semester system with the most modern syllabi, modified from time to time.
