Chetana’s Hazarimal Somani College of Commerce & Economics, Smt. Kusumtai Chaudhari College of Arts, Mumbai was established on 16th June 1970.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 25th November 1975 & 12(B) on 6th September 2016 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)  with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.09 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 29th January 2009.

The college founded by Loksevak Late Shri Madhukarrao Chaudhari, one of the most respected visionary leaders of Maharashtra State, is the flagship institution under the Chetana Education Trust.

Chetana Education Trust, a well known educational institute has successfully completed more years in the field of Commerce and Management Education in Bandra East, a western suburb of Mumbai.

The college aims to establish an institution imparting Commerce and Management Education: a fusion of theory and practice making Commerce graduates employable in the business world.

It is a private-aided, co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in the suburb part of Mumbai played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also as a different name of institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Commerce, & Vocational streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations and offers two years postgraduate course in Commerce stream under the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. It also offers Ph.D. in Commerce and Add-On Certificate courses.
