Chembur Sarvankash Shikshan Shastra Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai was established on 16th June 1970 managed by Chembur Education Society (R).
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai & Yashantarao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 11th December 1975 under Act, 1956.
It is also recognized & approved by Govt. of Maharashtra and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.35 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 23rd January 2017.
The aim of the college is of sufficient time duration to provide adequate and stable knowledge in content areas, in a pedagogy of teaching and in developing a sense of positive attitude towards teaching among the trainee teachers.
The college has now completed 45 years and has become a vibrant centre for Teacher Education and Lead College of the University of Mumbai, Mumbai.
It is an English & Marathi medium, co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in the urban part of Mumbai played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.
The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.
The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level.
But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college also offers two years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course under the affiliating Maharashtra State Council of Education Research & Training (MSCERT), Pune for those who have completed their intermediate with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized college/university.
Students here are admitted who completed their intermediate from recognized college/university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the intermediate level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
Apart from these two courses, the college also offers Add-On Courses like:
Diploma in School Management (DSM) - This is correspondence course for in-service teachers with intake capacity is 60. This course has started from 2010.The course is affiliated to Y.C.M.O.U.Teachers need to attend 10 contact sessions for this course. Ph.D. Research Centre - Institution has a Research Centre affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Students those who have given Ph.D. entrance test can enroll for Ph.D. Degree through this research Centre. Intake capacity is 20. Admission depends upon a number of vacant seats.
Certificate Course in Functional English / Diploma Course in Functional English - Duration of the course is one year. In each course, there are two papers. After completing Certificate course, students can go for Diploma Course. This course is open for all. The course runs into batches and each batch has intake capacity 20. Batches are made as per the convenience of the participants. However, there is no Sunday Batch.
The institution is proposed to run following Self-Financing Added Courses from the year 2016-17. All courses are affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai.
