Changu Kana Thakur Arts, Commerce and Science College, New Panvel (Dist. Raigad) was established on 26th September 1997 by Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha (R), Panvel under the visionary leadership of charismatic and benevolent mass leader Hon’ble Shri. Ramsheth Thakur.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college has been permanently affiliated with the University of Mumbai, Mumbai on 12th January 2006 under Maharashtra University Act, 1994 and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 26th August 2006, under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.13 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 15th September 2012.

The college has committed itself to provide quality education to all state and becoming the center of excellence in the process of facilitating effective teaching and learning with several career-oriented traditional and specialty programs.

It is an English / Marathi medium, co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Mumbai played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also as a different name of institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The aim of the college is to promote education by establishing schools and colleges and starting traditional as well as specialty programs with courses in professional studies, business management, legal, technical, medical, agricultural, physical education and other various fields. 

The college has highly qualified, devoted and committed faculty. More than 65% of them are engaged in various research activities. The college has well fenced and demarcated premises of 05 acres.

In the span of 19 years, the college has brought up following laurels because of its holistic development and excellence in academics, cultural, sports, social and research activities at University, State as well as National levels.

The college was also recognized & conferred the status as “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi from the academic year 2013-14.

The college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations under the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. It also offers Research, Remedial, Bridge, Certificate, Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma courses.

• To handle projects in the field of environmental concern, tree plantation, development of barren land, forest conservation, water conservation, dam construction, exhibition and growing medicinal plants
• To organize the camps for an eye check-up, diabetics, cancer, cardiac diseases, blood donation, asthma by inviting eminent personalities in the above fields and also to organize discussions, lecture series, etc.

• To purchase land from CIDCO or other such corporations or bodies with the help of state or central government or from any individual and run useful educational and social projects
