Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi was established in 2009.

Dr. Darlando T. Khathing, an internationally renowned scientist and a distinguished academic administrator was appointed as its first vice chancellor by the visitor, her excellency, Shrimati Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

The vision of the university is to create a world class university in every aspect, be it research, teaching, administration or cocurricular activities, to produce world class students ready and to excel in every chosen field with honor and uprightness.

The objective of the university is to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in various disciplines, promote innovations in teaching-learning process and inter-disciplinary studies and research, to educate and train manpower for the development of the country and to establish linkages with industries for the promotion of science and technology.

The motto of the university is to strive hard to turn the knowledge into wisdom so that society finally gains a useful citizen to guide and mold its destiny.
