Chanambam Ibomcha (C.I.) College, Bishnupur (Dist. Manipur) was formerly known as Public College, Bishnupur was established in 1965 and founded by Shri Chanambam Ibomcha Singh.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Manipur University, Canchipur in 1980 and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The history of the college is when the adoption of a historic resolution in a public meeting held on 13th May 1965 the "Public College" came into being in an embryonic form founded by Shri Chanambam Ibomcha Singh.

Later in absence of him, the college would have never seen the light of the day. It was after this benefactor that the Public College was rechristened "Chanambam Ibomcha College" in 1971.

The college has remained a private college until 1978 when it was taken over by the Government of Manipur and thus became a full-fledged Government College since then.

The college has two wings viz. junior and senior. The junior wing and senior wing of the college has Arts and Science courses.

It is a co-educational government institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Manipur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts and Science streams with optional specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts and Science streams with various specializations under Manipur University, Canchipur.
