Burhani College of Commerce & Arts, Mumbai was established in 1969 under the auspices of His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS) and was registered as a Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1952.

It is one of the premier minority aided colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in 2004 under Act, 1956.

It is also approved by All India Council for Techincal Education (AICTE), New Delhi and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B++" Grade - (in 1st Cycle) on 16th February 2004.

Burhani Education Society caters to the needs of almost 3000 students keeping in mind the importance of higher education as well as social and scientific aspects of modern society.

The Junior College is functioning since its inception in 1976. Students can offer Information Technology (IT) as an optional subject in Jr. College.

The college caters to the academic needs of more than 3000 students every year from the city and suburbs of Mumbai. It conducts courses (on grant-in-aid basis) leading to the BA / B.Com Degrees and the B.M.S. & B.M.M. courses (on Non-grant-in-aid basis). Post Graduate courses are offered in M.Com. (with Accountancy / Management) & M.M.S. (AICTE Approved, Mumbai University Affiliated).

The college has been granted permission by the U.G.C. New Delhi, to start classes & remedial courses in various subjects for the minority community students. Also proposed are certificate / Add-on-courses in Computerised Accounting, Event Management, Hospitality & Tourism, E-Commerce etc.

The college is centrally located at Mazagaon and is ten minutes walk from the Byculla and Dockyard stations of the Central Railway. It is also easily accessible from the Bombay Central station of the Western Railway.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts & Commerce streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offfers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations under the University of Mumbai, Mumbai. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
