On December 1, 1995, Baselius Poulose II Catholicose College was established by Malankara Syrian Jacobite Christian Education Trust, a nonprofitable organization of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, to impart & provide quality higher education for the deserving candidates.

The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it was recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on June 23, 2004, under Act, 1956.

It was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.14 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) in 2013.

The college was named after His Beatitude Baselios Poulose II, the Catholicos of the East for twenty-one years, who was known for his profound scholarship, social concerns and commitment to reform.

The campus is located in the Baselios mount in Piravom village, 4 km away from Piravom town in Ernakulam District.

At present, the offers four undergraduate programmes in frontier areas in arts, business administration, science, and technology viz. B.A. English with Journalism, BCA, BBA, and B.Sc. Electronics with Computer Hardware, and two post-graduate programmes M.Sc. Electronics and M.Sc. Computer Science – in the unaided stream.
