Birla Institute of Technology Extension Centre (BIT), Patna was established in 2006 as a result of an initiative from the Government of Bihar.

The Patna campus of the institute is first-of-its-kind, dedicated fully to the course of Engineering & Technology.
The institute is in well resonance with the main campus at Mesra Ranchi and there is a regular exchange of resources between the two campuses of BIT.
