Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad was established on 1964.

Its affiliated to Patna University.

The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi).

What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing.

This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani. Campus :- BITS, Pilani started its fourth Campus in the City of Hyderabad.

The institute has acquired a land of 200 acres in Jawahar Nagar, Shameerpet Mandal from the Government of Andhra Pradesh through HUDA. BITS, Pilani Hyderabad Campus is planned with an outlay of about Rs. 270 crores.

The new campus has started its academic activity in August, 2008. BITS, Pilani Hyderabad Campus focuses on high quality education and research in the fields of Science and Technology.

The objective of this campus is to prepare young students to act as leaders for the promotion of the economic and industrial growth of the country and to play a creative role in society.

BITS focus on imparting skills on cutting-edge technologies to our students. Quality research in the areas of sciences and technology is given considerable importance here. BITS's major strength comes by forging strong Industry-academic linkage.
