Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS), Nainital was established in 1969.

The BIAS is affiliated to the Kumaun University and Uttrancal technical University.

as Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR) founded by Mr.B.M.Birla, in the developing Bhimtal industrial belt.

The aim was to provide basic workshop facilities and testing grounds for entrepreneurs to set up industrial units in the region.

BIAS Bhimtal is a fully residential institute that offers two courses both of which are approved by the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education).

Campus of Birla Institute of Applied Sciences: The institute is located in the most picturesque surroundings of the lake town of Bhimtal, in the Nainital district of Uttaranchal.
