Bharath Education Society College (Degree), Bengaluru Urban was also known as BES College (Degree), Bengaluru Urban was established in March 1972 under the management of Bharath Education Society (R), which was established in 1971 under the aegis of Late Sri K.R. Marudeva Gowda, retired IAS officer, and Sri B.L. Lakkegowda, retired Special Deputy Commissioner with many others.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 4th July 1994 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (in 1st Cycle) on 16th September 2004.

BES college is housed in a spacious building located within BES campus. The college is located centrally that makes the students from various parts of the city and surrounding areas access it conveniently.

The college offers Arts, Commerce, Science, Management and Computer Application courses and also two add-on courses funded by UGC. The teaching is carried on bilingually - Kannada, English. Teachers are always willing to solve any difficulties faced by the students. Sports and cultural activities are given impetus to provide a fertile ground to tap the hidden potentials of students.
