Bali Ram Bhagat (B.R.B.) College, Samastipur was established in 1969. It is one of the constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga imparting education till Honors level in Arts, Science, and Commerce.

At present, the college is affiliated to Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

A multi-faculty co-educational institution, the college, till date maintains a distinguish place in the University. Situated on the South-West end of Samastipur on the main road leading to Patna, the college has a very refined walled campus comprising of about 6 acres of land.

Based on the outskirts of Samastpur town the college enjoys the natural open environment coupled with the Urban facility. Its strategic location attracts students from both the Urban and Rural surroundings.

It was during this period that the college was granted its first affiliation with the Bihar University, Muzaffarpur for the session 1970-71 enabling the college to start teaching work at Graduation level in Arts and Intermediate level in Science and Commerce from June 1970.

In 1973 the college, till then running in the premises of Sri Krishna School, Jitwarpur shifted to its present locale on the piece of land donated by Late Saryug Prasad, the then Mukhiya of Mohanpur. Sri Karpoori Thakur ex-Chief Minister of Bihar helped in the lease settlement of land lying in an around the donated land with the District and State Administration.

The college aims to substantially contribute to the process of the nation and society by providing quality education & thereby enabling the students to become globally competent.

The devotion of the teachers supplemented by the rich library with a collection of books on various subjects provides a productive academic environment. The institute also aims to include skill development, career training, community orientation, computer literacy, value education etc. as a part of the curriculum.
