B.L.D.E. Association's, S.B. Arts & K.C.P. Science College, Vijayapura was established on 15th June 1945. It is also a flagship of BLDE Association with 70years of long-standing academic excellence.

It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 30th December 1974 & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 19th January 2016.

The Arts discipline is named after its founder Poojya Shivayogi Sangan Basava Swamiji and Science is named after its donor Shri Kanal Channanagouda Patil.

It is honor and historic feat to note that the foundation stones of the college were laid by Bharat Ratna and Nobel Laureate C V Raman. The College has been visited by eminent personalities like General Kariyappa, Dr. V. K. Gokak, Dr. D. C. Pavate, Lt. General Halagali, Shri S R Hiremath, a Social Activist and Vice -Chancellors of various Universities.

The College offers UG Courses in BA, BSc, BCA and PG Courses in Computer Science, English, and Chemistry. It also offers some Certificate & Add-On courses.

It has 54 permanent teachers with 17 Ph.D.’s and 11 M.Phil holders and the faculty members have published more than 92 Research articles in National and International journals.

The members have also completed UGC Sponsored 14 MRPs in the last five years. In addition,01 Major Research Project, 12 MRPs are in progress.

The college stands on a wide expanse of 54 acres of land with well equipped spacious facilities.

A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
