B.L.D.E.A.’s JSS College of Education, Vijayapura was established in 1980 under the management of Bijapur Liberal District Education Association (B.L.D.E.) which was established in 1910. This college was renamed as Jnanayogi Shri Siddheswar Swamiji College of Education in 1995.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college was affiliated with Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1993. From the year 2010-11 college is permanently affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru in 1996 and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.61 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 23rd March 2014.
The college is the brainchild of late Sri B.M. Patil, a far-sighted visionary, the then General Secretary of the B.L.D.E. Association. The college came being under the leadership of N.G. Karur, the founder principal of the college.
Karnataka State Open University Study Centre was also sanctioned for M.Ed. program in 2000-01. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi Study centre was also established in 1990.
The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
