Assam Engineering Institute, Guwahati a premier technical institution of Assam was established in the year 1948. It is affiliated to the State Council for Technical Education. Its campus is located in Chandmari at the heart of Guwahati city. It is well connected to both the railway station (3 KM) and airport (28 KM). Moreover Guwahati is the gateway to the North-Eastern region of India, being well connected to all the other states like Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

HISTORY

Being one of the oldest Technical Institute in the North East, Assam Engineering Institute placed an important role in the field of technical education in the region. The Institute was first started as "Assam Civil Engineering School" and offered a diploma course in Civil Engineering. Gradually as the demand for technical personal in other fields was increasing, diploma courses were introduced in other disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electronics & Telecommunication and Computer.
