Aryabhatta College, Guruvayur (Dist. Thrissur) was popularly known as Aryabhatta College of Advanced Studies was established on 8th May 1983.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the University of Calicut, Malappuram and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Act, 1956.

It is a women's college, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in an Urban part of a Kochi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The history of the birth and growth of Aryabhatta narrates the story of the creation and sustenance of a noble idea of our founder Sri.C.J.David who is out and out committed to providing systematic education to young girls hailing from remote and backward areas of 3 Districts, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram.

Needless to say that a person of David Sir’s stature has unanimously been elected the President of Kerala State Parallel College Association in 2010 and 2011.

It is another golden feather on his cap that he established ‘Aryabhatta Educational Trust’ in 2013. Now he is working in the capacity of the General Convener of the Approved Counselling Centres of Calicut University.

The focus of the institution is to make a significant contribution to the quantum improvement in the effectiveness of education and allied fields by creating knowledge and nurturing talent which helps the student build a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society.

Over 3000 students on rolls imparting quality education to women hailing from rural areas at an affordable cost. The Silver Jubilee celebration of the college took off on 14th February 2007 when the glittering star of the silver screen Sri.Innocent inaugurated the year-long celebrations.

Several courses come under the purview and valid certificates recognized by the Government of India will be issued for the successful candidates after the competitive examination conducted in this institution. Aryabhatta is in collaboration with Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Govt. Of India.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts & Commerce stream with various optional specializations under Kerala State Open School, Thiruvananthapuram.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams & offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream with optional specializations under the University of Calicut, Malappuram. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

All the Under-Graduate Courses are envisaged and implemented as per University of Calicut Choice Based Credit Semester System (CUCBCSS).

For passing the degree programme, a student should obtain a minimum of 120 credits of which 38 credits shall be from Common Courses, 78 credits from Core and Complementary Courses and 4 credits from the Open Courses.

It also offers two years postgraduate course in MBA (Finance / Marketing) at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The college also conducts job oriented certificate courses under Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha, Thiruvananthapuram. Valid certificates will be issued by K.H.P.S. after passing out the examination in Feb. & August every year.
