Army Institute of Law (AIS), Mohali was established in 1999 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES).
The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in July 1999 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) at its interim location at Patiala. In July 2003, The Institute shifted to Sector 68, Mohali. On December 1, 2003, the Mohali Campus was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India. The Institute is affiliated to the Punjabi University, Patiala and approved by the Bar Council of India. With 'Apire & Achieve' as its motto, the Institute has grown as a Centre of Excellence in the field of legal education. The Institute is accredited grade 'B' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). AIL has a magnificent residential campus in an impressive architectural structure in the vicicnity of Chandigarh and Panjab & Haryana High Court. It conducts a five year BA.LLB and a one year LL.M Course.
The entire course is divided into 10 Semesters. During the first four semesters, the students are taught a few social science subjects i.e., Sociology, Economics, Political Science and History along with the Law Subjects with the objective of providing inter-disciplinary approach to law.

AIL, as a centre of excellence in the field of legal education, aims to:

Enable its students to pursue a career at the Bar, Judical Services, Civil Services, Armed Forces, Corporate Houses and Such other organizations.
Transform Students as embodiment of dignity, ethical and moral values and a visible sense of National pride.

MISSION
To impart high quality, comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education, research and practical analysis to enable the students towards application of the knowledge of law and justice as an instrument of social, political and economic change.
To promote among the students, academic excellence, discipline, personal character, high sense of ethical and moral values, rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
To produce law graduates possessing the core competencies essential to embark on the practice of law, Judicial or Civil services, or as officers in the Armed forces and Corporate sector.
To promote co-curricular activities for holistic personality development of the students.
To strive to be a centre of excellence in the field of legal education by adopting all such things as are necessary and contribute to the attainment of all or any of the above objectives as an institution of higher learning.
