Annai Hajira Women's College, Tirunelveli was established in 2004.

It is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent,the Merciful “Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim, be it male or female”, said Prophet Muhammad (on whom be peace).

Despite this unambiguous directive, the Muslim women have lagged far behind in education. Sincere and sustained efforts are needed to raise the level of education of the Muslim women.

As education is the chief instrument of empowerment,it was felt that the best way to bring higher education to Muslim girls in general and Muslim girls from Melapalayam in particular is to start a college of arts and science exclusively for girls.

As the college is in the growing stage with new courses to be introduced soon, the construction of some more class rooms is very much essential at this time.

Hence, fund assistance has been sought from Moulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), A central Government Organisation at Delhi.
