Anandachandra College (AC), Jalpaiguri was established in 1942.

This is a full-fledged first grade, co- education Degree College. This is a Govt. sponsored college.

The college is leading a important role to promote the higher education in this Northen Region of West Bengal. The college has the morning and day session.

The college offers a wide choice of undergraduate courses in discipline of Arts and Science. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ and also recognized by UGC under 2(f) & 12(b).

The college is affiliated to North Bengal University, established in 1962 with a goal to disseminate knowledge to fulfill growing socio-economic and technical manpower needs in the six North Bengal districts and the neighboring state of Sikkim. 

Ananda Chandra College was established in 1942 during the turbulent years of Quit India Movement.  Over the decades since then it has remained in the forefront of all the colleges of North Bengal in size, quality and performance. This college is now a pioneering seat of higher learning in the entire region of the sub-Himalayan West Bengal.  The alumni of the college are now engaged in different academic, administrative and other important positions of the society.  Many of them are now contributing to nation building in their respective capacities.  It is a Government Sponsored College affiliated to the University of North Bengal, managed by a Governing Body under the direct control of Director of Public Instructions, West Bengal. We have produced great scientists, administrators, legal luminaries, teachers, political functionaries and bright professionals.  On the basis of our achievement, the University Grants Commission, the highest authority of higher education was pleased to endorse us the category 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act to render us eligible generous financial grant.

This college is pleased to accommodate as many as three thousand three hundred students at present in which girls have a share of around forty percent.  We are successfully running 20 academic departments comprising of 9 Science subjects and 11 subjects in the category of humanities and social sciences. B. P. Ed. and Microbiology Course, on purely self-finance system, has been successfully running since 2003.  The other shining feather of our college is that we have M. A. course in Bengali.  We are contemplating to offer post graduate studies in different subjects in future.  The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the quality monitoring authority of higher education in India had conferred B++  grade to our college on the basis of their physical assessment. Academic accomplishments of our student are consistently remarkable.

The University results of our students have been outstanding during last few years.  The percentage of success during last years final examination touched a record mark of almost ninety percent.  We are proud to inform you that the Sports Board, University of North Bengal has selected our College Champion of Champions for the Sports Calendar Year 2011-2012 on the basis of our performance. Our co-curricular activities are running vibrantly alongside our academic functions.  In all areas of games and sports, our performances are widely appreciated.  Our students are not only participating overwhelmingly but also are coming with flying colours bagging all champion medals each year.  We are also committed to social welfare.  NCC and NSS are the lively wing of our college where students are trained to take up social welfare activities.  We also have a nodal centre of Child Line India which works to rescue and protect the deprived children in North Bengal.
