Ananda Mohan College, Kolkata was established in 1961. It is affiliated to University of Calcutta, Kolkata and is accredited by NAAC with B++ grade.

It has been managed by Brahmo Samaj Education Society.

It is a premier evening college in the city of Kolkata. It offers undergraduate courses in pure science, bio science, humanities, social science and commerce with honors courses in such major subjects as Bengali, English, History, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Physiology, Botany and Commerce.

The college is proud that it has created, and continues to cater, to the needs of those sections of the students who cannot enroll in day colleges for a variety of reasons but nevertheless are willing to pursue the course of higher education.

Thus Ananda Mohan College humbly serves the cause of higher education.

City College was started by Ananda Mohan Bose and the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj in 1881. In 1961, the college was trifurcated into three separate colleges–Rammohan College (morning college), City College (day college) and Ananda Mohan College (evening college). Till 2017, the college used to be administered by the Brahmo Samaj Education Society, a society constituted by the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj. Since then, it became a grant-in-aid college under the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal no longer administered by the Brahmo Samaj Education Society.

The Library of Anand Mohan College was established since the inception of the college. Before August 1984, the three colleges (Rammohan College, City College and Ananda Mohan College) Shared a common library. Since then, Ananda Mohan College has had a separate library. The college library is located on the first floor of the main building of the college and it has a floor area of approximately 1000 Sq.ft.
