A.W.H College of Education, Kozhikode was established in 1996, managed and run by A.W.H (Association for the Welfare of the Handicapped), a charitable society registered under Societies Act. With Reg. No.26 of 1975.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut, Malappuram on 30th January 1996. It is approved by Government of Kerala.

It is also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru and Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi to offer D.Ed, B.Ed, & M.Ed etc. courses.

The A.W.H has been running many educational institutions from primary schools to diploma, degree and post-graduate level colleges and Technical institutions. It also runs many projects for the benefit of disabled, women, children and destitute. As of now, the AWH runs about 33 institutions and projects in Calicut, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasargod Districts.

The college aims at giving quality Education to the Educators who are expected to mold children with the same vision. In addition to the routine curricular programme prescribed by the University, the College aims at providing various opportunities and exposure to bring out and develop optimum professional competency.

At present, the college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The college also offers two years Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course for those who have completed their intermediate with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized college/university under the affiliating to Department of Collegiate Education Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

Students here are admitted who completed their intermediate from recognized college/university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the intermediate level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Apart from these courses, the college also offers Add-On Courses like:

• B.Ed. Special Education (Hearing Impaired) Degree Course: (Regular) 2 years (4 semesters) Approved by the Govt. of Kerala, Recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi and affiliated to the University of Calicut with an intake of 30 (27 + 3 Foreign students) Seats.
• D.Ed. Special Education (Mental Retardation) 2 Years: 25 Seats
• DCBR: (Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation) Approved by RCI, New Delhi & National Institute of Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Secunderabad - 1 Year: 25 Seats
