A.M. Sivasankara Mannadiar Memorial Teacher Training Institute for Women, Koduvayur (Dist. Palakkad) was popularly known as A.M.S.M.M.T.T.I (W), Koduvayur was established in 1946 by A.M. Sivasankara Mannadiar as Basic Training School for imparting teacher's training to aspiring women candidates.

But the name of the school has been changed in 1999 and presently it is known as A.M. Sivasankara Mannadiar Memorial Teacher Training Institute for Women, Koduvayur.

It is one of the premier government aided colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Department of Collegiate Education Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. It is recognized & approved Government of Kerala and by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru.

The Basic Training School was given by this college is one of the best Teacher Training School, in the State.The high demand of qualified teachers at that time and the desire for bringing ladies to the mainstream by providing job opportunities to them prompted Sri.A.M.S.Mannadiar to give shape to the school. The College is being well managed.

The college offers two years Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) or Teacher Training Course (T.T.C.)-(Elementary) for those who have completed their intermediate with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized college/university under the affiliating university.

Students here are admitted who completed their intermediate from recognized college/university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the intermediate level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The dedicated teaching staff & non-teaching staff of the school are also striving hard to maintain the standards set up by Ky.K.S.Sarada Devi. The school can boast of very good Results in Public examinations all throughout their existence till date.
