A.J. College of Science & Technology, Thonnakkal (Dist.Thiruvananthapuram) was established in 1995 and was founded by late Dr. M.A. Abdul Jabbar, noted philanthropist and visionary. The college was established under the management of Abdul Razak Memorial Charitable Trust, Kazhakuttom.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and recognized by the Government of Kerala.

The college is situated on the side of the national highway near Kumaran Asan Memorial. It was the fulfillment of a long cherished desire of the management to start an institution of higher education offering degree and postgraduate courses in the professional area.

In the beginning, B.Sc Computer Science, B.Sc Electronics and B.Com with Computer Application were introduced by taking into consideration through great demand for professionals in the field of Information Technology.

The Trust has been functioning for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society since its inception in 1983. The Govt. of Kerala has sanctioned a Self Financing Degree College at Thonnakkal to the Trust and the University of Kerala has granted affiliation to the college to start functioning from 1995-96 onwards.

Now the college offers 9 Degree courses and 6 Post Graduate courses. The college aims not only at the attainment of intellectual excellence and imparting of skills, but also teaching of moral, spiritual and ethical values to the integrated development of human personality whereby, the students are made citizens of good character and of high intellectual ability.

At present, the college offers two years undergraduate & three years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce stream with various specializations and offers three years undergraduate course in Management stream under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students in its various departments.
