It is the language officially recognised in Punjab, India. It has its words similar to its counterpart languages Hindi and Marathi. It is an Indo-Aryan language that is spoken by a population of 100 million people. The language was basically developed from Sanskrit. It is also spoken in parts of Pakistan.
