Why do Universities Conduct Seminars?

Objective
The basic objective of the seminars is to bring together academicians and experts to exchange knowledge and ideas. This will provide an in-depth analysis of subjects and update the knowledge of the participants from academic as well as research institutions.
Approval
Did you know that every UGC-recognized institution has to take prior permission from UGC to conduct seminars, conferences or workshops? No permission is needed if the college doesn't want financial assistance from UGC.
Plan Six Months ahead
The Colleges who wish to avail financial assistance should submit their proposal at least six months the before the proposed date of the seminar to the UGC Regional Offices located at Bhopal, Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Pune.
How much aid do institutions get from UGC?
Rs. 70,000/-
For Regional Level Seminar/Workshop
Rs. 80,000/-
For State Level Conference/Workshop
Rs. 1.50 lakh
For International Level Conference/Workshop
Rs. 1 lakh
For National Level Conference/Workshop
If an institution is organizing International Conference, then clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is mandatory.

Report the Findings
This is mandatory for all the institutions conducting seminars to send the findings in the form of a document to UGC. Otherwise, UGC has all powers to freeze the budget allocated for seminars.
