Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi has scripted a history by becoming the first woman fighter pilot of the to take part in an aerial wargame abroad. Let's know more about her.
This is the first time, an Indian Air Force woman fighter pilot, squadron leader Avani Chaturvedi, will be part of the Indian contingent for the aerial war games to be held outside the country.
Her journey began at the Indian Air Force base in Jamnagar, Gujarat on February 19, in a MiG-21.
The 29-year-old hails from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh. She did her Bachelors in Technology from Banasthali University, Rajasthan.
She underwent six months of intensive training at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad, before she was inducted into the IAF fighter squadron.
Avani Chaturvedi, India's one of the first three woman fighter pilots. She will be leaving for Japan shortly for participating in the exercise
Avani was honoured with 'Nari Shakti Puraskar' on International Women's Day in 2019 by then President Ram Nath Kovind.
Squadron Leader Chaturvedi was among the first three women fighter pilots commissioned into the IAF in June 2016. The other two were Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh.
