Know All About INS Vagir

The fifth submarine of the scorpene-class, Vagir, was handed to the Indian Navy.

INS Vagir (S25) is the fifth submarine of the first batch of six Kalvari-class submarines for the Indian Navy.
It is a diesel-electric attack submarine based on the Scorpène class, designed by French naval defence and energy group Naval Group and manufactured by Mazagon Dock Limited.
INS Vagir was launched on 12 November 2020.
The first Vagir, a Russian submarine, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on December 3, 1973.
The submarine inherits its name from INS Vagir (S41) which served in the Navy from 1973–2001, and was named after a species of sandfish.
INS Vagir started its maiden sea trials on 2 February, 2022. The ship was commissioned on 23rd January 2023.
The submarine is capable of carrying out a variety of missions, including anti-surface, anti-submarine, information gathering, mine laying, and surveillance activities.
It has undergone several thorough acceptance examinations.
It can launch attacks both underwater and on the surface using torpedoes and tube-launched anti-ship missiles.
