One of the most adopted strategies is an integrated approach for both levels(pre & mains) because the subjects have a lot in common and will help you save time for revision.
Common Topics
It is very important to select the common topics for both prelims and mains. And then start preparing accordingly.
Separate Notes
Make separate notes for prelims and mains as exam pattern.
Test Series
Try to give 3 mock tests of prelims and 1 test on mains exam. There is no shortcut to this. Period!
2 months before prelims
Cover mains syllabus along with prelims but when two months are left for prelims, just focus on prelims. Eventually prelims is the gateway to mains.
CSAT & OPTIONAL
These are as important as general science. So prepare CSAT once in a week and spare 1 hour for optional everyday.
Current affairs
It is all up to you, whether cover current affairs by newspaper, booklets, magazines. But do not leave this part weak.
Focus On Exam Pattern
Because exam pattern and thought process is different for both the exam levels. Keep solving previous year question papers.
