There are two days dedicated to Hindi in India:
One is Hindi Diwas and second is World Hindi Day. People often confuse the one with the other and this is where we felt the need to clear the air.
When it is celebrated?
World Hindi Day is observed annually on January 10.
Hindi Diwas is celebrated on every September 14
Why we celebrate Hindi Diwas
It marks the declaration of Hindi as official language of India on Sep 14, 1949. The Celebration was started by JL Nehru in 1953.
Why we observe World Hindi Day
It marks the first World Hindi Conference that took place on January 10 in 1975, in Nagpur.

While the Mauritius PM Seewoosagur Ramgoolam was the chief guest of the conference.
PM Manmohan Singh started the celebration of World Hindi Day in 2006.
It is celebrated to promote the use of the Hindi language worldwide. Another objective of the occasion is to present Hindi as an international language.
