Being an HR is no child's play. More than the actual responsibilities, the real challenge for an HR is to bridge the gap between the company and that of the employees. While the HR has to be accessible to the employees and ensure that all their rights are being adhered to, they will also have to ensure that the company is running in a profit and that it is able to extract maximum work out of the employees. Being true to both sides is indeed a challenge and many HR executives find themselves struggling to meet the ends.


While there are a set of definite rules and regulations pertaining to employee rights, the same cannot be said on overall employee management. This makes the task of employee management an even graver one for most people.

At any given day, positive motivation works better on an individual as compared to that of negative motivation. Thus, instead of blaming a person for something that they have done wrong, try to look for someone who has done the same task exceptionally well and try to reward the person.

That will make other employees also want to get the reward and in the process, they will try to put in their best. However, make sure that the recognition they get is timely and genuine in nature. If recognition is bestowed upon someone who does not really deserve it, its impact on the team will be very negative.

Thus, while this is one of the easiest ways to motivate your team, make sure that you are conscious of whom to reward and whom not to.

4. Create A Positive Environment

The environment that a person lives in has a major say in their overall productivity. If a person is continuously told that they are bad at what they do or there is no scope of professional growth for them there, they will naturally feel demotivated and will not even want to put in their best. This will result in losses for the company.

Thus, if you want to get work done by your employees in an effective manner, the first and foremost step would be to create a positive environment in the office where everyone helps one another. For this, you may consider engaging the employees in team-building activities like taking them out for team excursions, trips and team lunches once in a while.

This will not just enable them to connect better with each other but it will also help beat the stress and create a positive environment in the office.

5. Boost Employee Engagement

One of the primary duties of an HR manager is to try to ensure as much employee retention as possible (since that helps the company cut down on costs). One of the most important tricks to retain employees would be by engaging in employee involvement.

This is done to make the employees feel important and instil in them a sense of belonging. You can initiate this by bringing about a feeling of empathy towards them and trying to involve them in the decision-making process. Make conscious efforts to try to avoid imposing your opinions on them.
