By Vaishali Parnami

It is no surprise that highly productive employees are more valuable to an organisation than average employees. In a recent research paper, it was revealed that employees rated nine or ten by the manager are more important to the organisation. These employees are more productive, they work more, achieve extra and have a work-life balance.

These employees do some things different from the average employees that make them better. Let's find out 6 habits of highly productive employees.

However, as you read these habits, remember, habits are developed over time and not in a day. All the habits in this list are no exception. You will have to work hard and a cumulative effort of letting go of bad habits and adopting good habits will show significant results.

Be Punctual

Most of us already know this habit, but we willingly ignore it. Being punctual, arriving to work on time, leaving on time and delivering work before deadlines not only keep you in good books but also reduce stress.

First, you are considered reliable, and your boss can trust you while handling a crucial task. Second, when you complete everything on time, you avoid the stress and anxiety of getting late or missing the deadline.

Say No!

Sometimes you have to say no to colleagues, and this does not mean you don't respect them, it simply means you respect your work more. For instance, if your colleague is asking you to have a cup of coffee with them, but you know if you take this break you'll miss the deadline.

So, you take the high road and tell them you can't go with them. Doing what is required is more important than doing what is morally correct.

Learn Something New

Productive employees don't get stuck in a rut because they keep doing something new. Take up tasks you know nothing about. Do something you are not good at. That is what learning is all about.

Repeatedly performing things you are a master of will make no difference, and by the end of the year, you will learn nothing new. Drop this habit, and learn to say yes to tasks you are afraid to perform.

Adopt The Two-minute Rule

This is the easiest habit on the list. If a task will take as less as two minutes, then do it immediately. Don't postpone or keep it for some other time.

We all have a habit of delaying things, and these small tasks keep piling up until we have gathered a lot of work. At such times, even two minutes seem like two hours. So, if a task can be completed in minutes, do it, don't wait.

Sleep Well And Eat Well

Just like completing work on time and being punctual is essential, sleeping and eating well is also significant. If you don't get enough sleep, you'll be less productive next day, and same is the case with food.

Taking care of your body is also a part of taking care of your work. Start sleeping early and start getting up early which will help you in next habit.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly keeps both your body and mind healthy, and for a good, productive day, you need a healthy mind too. If your mind is fresh and working at full speed, you can accomplish difficult tasks with ease. However, if your body and mind are lousy, you'll end up wasting a lot of time on a simple task. Therefore, wake up early, put on your running shoes, and give your mind some extra oxygen.

Many things will stop you from developing these good habits, and the top one in the list is your bad habit. You will have to synchronise between forgetting bad habits and accepting new, good habits for a productive work life.
