Explore The Section-wise Preparation Tips For CLAT 2018

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is all set to be held on May 13, 2018. Over fifty thousand law aspirants will be appearing for this national-level entrance examination, which is going to be conducted at more than 60 exam centres spread across the country.

Undeniably, CLAT will be the top choice for law aspirants despite many national, state or university-level entrance examination for admission to law courses. With a huge competition for CLAT, the examination is going to be more intense. Aspirants have to opt for a strategic preparation technique in order to grab a seat for the five-year integrated law programme in the 19 participating NLUs.

The section-wise preparation technique is the best strategy to crack CLAT. This online exam consists of five sections, namely English including comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Here are the section-wise preparation tips for the CLAT examination.

English Including Comprehension

The candidates are tested based on the comprehension passages and grammar. Candidates are required to correct grammatically incorrect sentences, fill in the blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc. One has to work on their vocabulary. Reading a newspaper will not only help you improve your grammar but will also improve your general knowledge.

General Knowledge And Current Affairs

This section tests the candidates on the static general knowledge and current affairs, both national and international. Candidates are suggested to refer to the 10th standard history, civics, geography and science textbooks. These textbooks will help you in understanding the concepts well. Prepare short notes for the general knowledge section. For current affairs, read the newspaper every day and follow one good monthly magazine.

Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability)

The section itself clearly says that elementary mathematics is enough. Candidates have to master the topics that are taught till class 10. One has to be strong in the fundamentals of the arithmetic topics. Try to increase your speed and be accurate. The best way to achieve this is through practise.

Legal Aptitude

This is a crucial section in the exam which tests the candidate's interest towards studying law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions and a set of facts to which the given proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be true in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the truth of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

There is no need to study laws but should have the passion towards the study of law. Be familiar with the the legal terms and legal glossary terms. Allot time for studying important articles in the Indian Constitution. This is useful for the general knowledge section also. Be acquainted with the important developments such as Right to Information Act, IPC and important personalities in law.

 

Logical Reasoning

The logical reasoning section tests the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. The questions are asked on syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. And questions will not be tested on visual reasoning. Numerical operations, coding-decoding, verbal analogies and analysis judgment are very important in this section.
